Whitening

Many factors, including dietary habits (drinking coffee, tea, soda, and red wine) and certain medications, can affect the whiteness of your smile. Tooth whitening is an affordable and effective way to combat common causes of tooth discoloration while boosting your self-confidence and improving your appearance.

We offer two options for tooth whitening. The first option uses custom made bleaching trays that hold the bleaching gel in close contact with your teeth. The trays are worn between 30 minutes and an hour for each day at home.   This is a good option for people who like to “touch up” their smiles on a regular basis. The bleach is available in 2 oz. bottles that can be stored in your refrigerator between bleaching sessions. This method requires a short appointment to make impressions of your teeth. The trays can then be picked up later the same day or the next day to begin bleaching.

Crest Whitestrips Supreme Professional white strips are another option and are stronger and more effective than other over-the-counter teeth whitening products. These are only available through a dentist. We have found that these two products are safe and effective, but it is important to have your teeth examined by a dentist prior to using any bleaching product since fillings and other restorations will not bleach, leaving a patient with uneven whitening.

Some people experience tooth sensitivity while bleaching their teeth. If this is the case, we recommend using Sensodyne toothpaste two to three times a day and limiting bleaching to shorter sessions and using the bleach every other day or every third day. Bleaching will still be effective, but will take a few days longer to achieve the same results as every day bleaching.
